This morning the long stretches of wide open spaces and mostly straight and flat roads in Illinois gave way to the twisty rolling hills of the Ozarks in Missouri. We also found that where Illinois played a lot on the nostalgia of Route 66, in Missouri it is largely ignored. For the most part, the only evidence of the Mother Road is the signs telling you it is Route 66. There are some exceptions to that but nowhere near what we found the past few days.

The ride through the Ozarks was spectacular, a real change in scenery. Late in the afternoon we got caught in the rain but fortunately were near a Harley dealer where we sat it out for a couple of hours. We arrived in Springfield Mo. at dinnertime, went to another dealer party and now are setled in for the night.
So far I have travelled over 1400 miles and have been in 6 states. Tomorrow it is on to Kansas and then to Tulsa Oklahoma.
Neat :)
